Defense Verdict in Manhattan Plastic Surgery Case

In December 2024, Louis Jakub obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a Manhattan plastic surgeon.  A former patient claimed at trial that the surgeon negligently performed a neck lift procedure by damaging her left internal carotid artery. The patient claimed that the surgeon removed excessive fat and tissue and strayed beyond the operative field and into the area where the artery was. Plaintiff was diagnosed with a tortuous internal carotid artery which she claimed placed her at risk for dissection, stroke and death. Mr. Jakub demonstrated that the procedure was performed correctly and that the tortuosity of the internal carotid artery pre-existed the neck lift procedure. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict.  (Supreme Court, New York County Index No.: 805369/19)
